It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. John 13:1(NIV)
Jesus loved the disciples not only when everything was going on well, when they were obeying and following Him. He loved them at their most vulnerable and worst moments when they were discouraged and totally gave up on Him. Even when they denied Him and deserted Him, Jesus still loved and believed the best of them.
At His worst and lowest when He took on all our sin and sorrows on the Cross Jesus loved all of us humanity. He loved us all the way to hell. He loved us out of hell into His Father’s heart.
Jesus loves you to the end, to your worst, to the deepest and darkest pit of lostness. He loves you to the end – till you’re found and brought safe in the Father’s home and heart where you belong, where it all ends.
