But the truth is that they were yearning for and aspiring to a better and more desirable country, that is, a heavenly [one]. Whether you call it Eden, nirvana, Canaan, wonderland, Zion, blissfulness, Camelot or Shangri-la, there actually exists a state, a place of utter perfection, happiness, and satisfaction.
The Scripture here has called it a better and more desirable country, a heavenly one.
Good news is this place is not in the far unforeseeable future, it is not far removed from us, it is not hard or impossible to access. Scripture goes on to call this place a city that God has prepared for us.
This place is the Life right present here among us, freely availed to everyone. It’s the Life of total dependence on God in childlike trust in His power and providence.
There’s no any other state or place where we can experience and enjoy utmost blessedness outside of absolute reliance on God. The better country is the God country. This is where we live and walk with God. This is where God is involved in all we do and we are involved in all He does.
