Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside the fish. He said, “I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and Lord, you heard me! Jonah 2:1-2 (NLT)
One great Redemption lesson we can learn from Jonah is that we can’t escape, we can’t run away, we can’t hide from God’s loving, gracious, merciful, saving presence and power.
Jonah had thought that he had fled far away from God but he realizes that getting away from God is getting into the terrifying unknown but yet even there God is present in His abundant Love and Grace ready to save.
God answered and rescued Jonah in the great unknown in a foreign place, in the belly of a fish, in the depths of the sea.
Jonah says “I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and Lord, you heard me!”
Even in the land of the dead God hears and saves.
Jonah spent three days and nights in the belly of a fish in the depths of the sea. This was a prophetic sign that foreshadowed Jesus who spent three days and nights dead in the grave but God raised Him from the dead.
Yes we can trust in God to hear, help, preserve and raise back to life in the great unknown.
