Don’t work yourself into the spotlight; don’t push your way into the place of prominence. It’s better to be promoted to a place of honor than face humiliation by being demoted. Proverbs 25:6-7 (MSG)
The spotlight itself isn’t the problem; actually it’s not a bad thing being in the spotlight.
It’s you pushing your way and stay in the spotlight.
We were created for greatness and glory.
But it’s how we get and live there that’s the issue.
When God is the one who puts us in the place of prominence then it’s proper and fitting and honors Him. But if we push ourselves into the place of prominence we end up dishonoring God, demoted, and humiliated.
When God promotes us Himself it humbles us and keeps us acknowledging Him as our source, support, and sufficiency. But when we promote ourselves our human wisdom and strength take God’s place and that brings disastrous results.
When God created man He Himself shined the spotlight on man for He made man in God’s own image and Likeness. God crowned man with glory. But when man, deceived by the adversary tried in his own efforts to become like God, he fell and lost it.
When men tried to make their name great by building a city with a tower that reaches heaven, God came down, confused their language and scattered them. Genesis 11:1-9.
But when God called Abram He promised to make this man’s name great and sure enough God not only gave him a new name Abraham but today this man’s name is great. Genesis 12:1-3.
Do not try to exalt and honor yourself, let God do it and you will stay there bringing Him pleasure and glory.
John 8:54 (MSG) “If I were striving to get all the attention, it wouldn’t amount to anything. But my Father, the same One you say is your Father, put me here at this time and place of splendor.
