So be patient, brethren, [as you wait] till the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits expectantly for the precious harvest from the land. [See how] he keeps up his patient [vigil] over it until it receives the early and late rains. James 5:7 (AMPC)
Outlasting all contradiction and hostility without being moved until you see what you desire come to pass is what patience is all about.
This is how we have been called to live and walk till the coming of the Lord when He finally conclusively sets everything right and in order at the close of the ages.
Patience is more than just waiting to see something happen. It’s about our attitude and actions while we haven’t yet seen what we desire happen.
Anyone can wait while in doubt, restless, complaining, fearful, nervous, angry and confused.
But patience waits in hope which is joyful confident expectation.
Romans 4:18 (NIV) Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed…
Faith and patience go hand in hand. Abraham believed and while what he believed was yet to be manifested in the natural physical world he waited patiently – that is he waited with joyful confident expectation. He did not wait with a grouchy, jumpy murmuring attitude.
Patience waits with calmness, confidence, peace, and trust.
Patience is constancy and consistence in all circumstances.
The source and sustenance of patience is the Lord Himself. It’s looking to Him. As long as we have the Lord as our focus we can always stay patient. We can always remain unmoved. Psalms 16:8 (AMPC) I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
