but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him [be] the glory both now and forever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18 (NKJV)
Grace is God in Christ richly freely giving all of Himself to us. It’s God’s free favor to us. It’s God’s resources and abilities to us in Christ. Everything God gives and does for us is by His Grace. We are saved by this Grace, we stand in this Grace. We can grow in this Grace. Note that it’s not the Grace that grows, we are the ones that grow in it. Grace is Christ Himself, He doesn’t grow or increase but it is us who grow in Him.
Therefore it’s in our knowledge, appreciation, and utilization of this Grace, that we grow or increase.
We grow in Grace through the knowledge of God and Jesus.
2 Peter 1:2 (NKJV) Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord
The knowledge of what God has already done and given us in Jesus Christ is what enables us to appreciate and take advantage of all the resources and abilities of God.
For example when we heard and got to know of this God who so loved us that He gave us His Son who died and rose for our Salvation we believed and thus took advantage of this saving Grace.
When we heard and got to know Jesus the healer by whose stripes we were healed we got to experience this healing Grace in our bodies.
Growing in Grace is realizing and being convinced in our hearts and minds that we have already received the fullness of God in our lives.
John 1:16 (NKJV) And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
So we shouldn’t sing anymore those beggarly songs of unbelief like ” O Lord more of you in my life” The spiritless language of longing is no longer part of our conversation. Rather out of His fullness in us we gush forth with “My cup runneth over”
Get to know and be fully persuaded of God’s fullness in Christ in you. You are no longer trying to get God’s presence, wisdom, power, love, blessing, anointing, favor, riches or any of His benefits into your life. Rather as you acknowledge all these things already in your life through Christ and what He did on the Cross you see, experience, and exhibit them in your life. This is the Grace growth.
