He who guards his mouth preserves his life, [But] he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. Proverbs 13:3 (NKJV)
You can preserve your life. “I thought that’s God’s responsibility and ability” You might say. In this Scripture and so many others God let’s us know that He has given us authority and power to preserve life – especially our life. Not everything that happens to us that God is responsible for it, or allowed it. Not everyone who dies that God was responsible or allowed it. We have a say so concerning our lives. We can say things that determine what happens or doesn’t happen in our lives. We can preserve our life by guarding our mouth – only speaking what brings life, healing, safety, restoration, and longevity. Gracious words came out of Jesus’ mouth (Luke 4:22) and he preserved many lives – healing, delivering and restoring people. Preserve your life and the lives of those around you speaking gracious words. Colossians 4:6(NKJV) [Let] your speech always [be] with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
