For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Psalm 149:4 (NIV)
The humble are not those who have a sense of inferiority and unworthiness but those who submit to the Lord. Looking to the Lord, trusting Him, casting all your worries on Him is how you submit to the Lord – 1Peter 5:6-7 When the Lord crowns you with victory it means He did the fighting or the work that led to the victory. It means it wasn’t by your might or wisdom but the Lord who helped you make it. God crowned the Israelites with victory when He parted the Red sea, got them to cross over safely on dry ground but drowned the Egyptians that had come to destroy them. The Israelites did nothing except to listen to and obey what the Lord commanded them to do. The Israelites were saved from their enemies and this was the crown of victory God put on them. We did nothing in regards to our Salvation. God saved us in His own wisdom and power all by Himself. Now, He has crowned us with the crown of victory over sin, guilt, condemnation and death. His Grace over us is the crown of victory over our weaknesses. His Mercy upon us is the crown of victory over all our failures. God has crowned us with victory coming to live in us in His fullness. Walk in victory as you recognize that it’s God working in you, with you, and for you.
