For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.” Psalms 122:8 (NIV)
While it’s right to pray for the peace of Jerusalem according to Psalms 122:6, a more personal and practical application of this command is that you pray for the peace of where you live. Because that’s your Jerusalem. Just as Jesus commanded that the gospel be preached from Jerusalem to the end of the world. For the disciples Jerusalem was their home city and thus starting point. For us our respective homes, communities, villages, towns or cities are our Jerusalems.Pray for the peace and prosperity (wholeness and wellbeing) of where you reside. Psalms 122:7It’s God’s desire that we have peace inside us as well as outside around us. Isaiah 32:17.God lives in us who have believed. We are the Church, God’s house and home. Through the Church God carries out and establishes His will in the earth. When there’s instability in the world it affects the church and it’s operations. Therefore, because of the house of the LORD our God we seek the good of wherever we live. Psalms 122:9
