5Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
Trust is learned by the one trusting and must be earned by the one being trusted. We learn to trust people and things we’ve found out can be trusted and all because these people or things have proven trustworthy.
We can trust in God because He already has a proven track record of absolute reliability.
God can not lie, and He has given us His Word assuring us that He’s able to carry us. God has always fulfilled what He promised – Joshua 23:14…You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.
We can trust God because we have many witnesses of men and women who trusted God and He proved Himself dependable – Psalms 22:4-5 Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them. They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.
Learn to trust in the Lord as you feed on his faithfulness. Psalms 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Feeding on the Lord’s faithfulness means seeing in His Word the many times He’s been faithful and also remembering the many times He’s been faithful in helping and carrying you.
