In Proverbs 9 both wisdom and foolishness are personified as a woman.Why? Women have influence. Eve influenced Adam, Sarah influenced Abraham, Rebecca influenced Isaac, Jezebel influenced Ahab. Both wisdom and foolishness have influence. They have the power to direct the thinking or behaviour of a person. Both wisdom and foolishness can influence and drive our lives and destinies. Proverbs 9:1-12 is lady wisdom calling out to people. Her influence leads to life – Proverbs 9:1. Proverbs 9:13-18 is lady foolishness calling out to people. Her influence leads to death and hell – Proverbs 9:18 Choosing between wisdom and foolishness is choosing between life and death. Thank God who gives us a clue – choose life – Deuteronomy 30:19 Choose wisdom over foolishness.
