True Liberty

February 10, 2025 John Nsamba Comments off Devotions

Now a slave does not remain in a household permanently (forever); the son [of the house] does remain forever. So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free. John 8:35-36(AMPC)

True liberty is Sonship or our position as sons and daughters of God.
A slave performs to become accepted and approved. He struggles to love in order to be loved, give in order to be given, forgive in order to be forgiven But this can’t produce genuine and permanent results because you never feel you’ve done enough and also there’s always another who’s performing better than you.
A son or daughter effortlessly practices who he or she is. He loves because he’s perfectly unconditionally loved already by the Father, freely gives out of what he’s freely received, forgives out of the realization that he’s been forgiven.
Performing in our own efforts to be right and please God is an endless burdensome laboring that doesn’t produce fruit.
Being persuaded that we are children of God through Faith in Jesus Christ liberates us to live freely and effortlessly from our true identity.
