And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. Matthew 9:20-22 (NKJV)
Jesus was so full and supersaturated with the life giving and healing power of God that even His clothes were soaked in it!
But not everyone felt or tapped into or was healed by that power even though they were so close and pressing onto Jesus.
The point of contact and connection to the life and power in Jesus was faith. It was acknowledging the One in whom the power dwelt and came from. It was recognizing that this is Almighty God, with whom all things are possible; who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think.
Today we have as an example what this woman here did. We do not follow the practice of a literal touching of a physical garment because today even Jesus is not here in person physically. Rather we follow the principle of contacting and connecting with God through hearing and speaking.
We touch God; we touch and connect with His life and power through hearing and speaking words that acknowledge Him and His power. This is what Faith is all about.
So whatever your chronic issue is, whatever suffering you’re going through your contact and connection to the saving and healing power of God is hearing and speaking words that acknowledge Him and His power present and active – not just in another person like the pastor, or prophet but in you!
