All Scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
The purpose of Scripture is to reveal the Righteousness of God. Romans 1:16-17. Scripture reveals how God makes man right with Himself.
While Scripture shows what’s wrong with man, what he has done wrong and the consequences, that’s not the focus. The focal point of Scripture is how God through Christ makes us right enabling us to live right.
Through Scripture God teaches, reproves or rebukes, corrects, and instructs or trains us in righteousness.
Therefore it’s wrong and disastrous to use Scripture to condemn, drive away, curse, and beat people down on the head no matter what they have done. All teaching, reproof, correction, instruction should be about getting people to see how God makes them right with Him through Jesus.
