This [is] the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24 (NKJV)
When God finished the creation work, He rested on the seventh day – Genesis 2:1-3. He called it holy and the point and reference of that was His very good finished work – Genesis 1:31. Rest and holiness is God’s doing; it’s God’s finished work. It’s not our efforts. The Sabbath was later instituted in Israel’s law to remind them that rest, holiness, and perfection are God’s doing, His working and not man’s striving.Today Jesus and His finished work of redeeming us is our Sabbath, our rest. Believing in Him is how we enjoy this Sabbath or rest – Hebrews 4:3 The day the Lord has made is not about a certain day in the year, month, or week but God’s finished work of saving us. It’s the Lord’s doing and it’s marvelous in our eyes – Psalms 118:23.It’s the day, the moment, the dispensation of salvation that we are in now 2 Corinthians 6:2.God has heard us, accepted us, helped us, and saved us in Christ Jesus. This is the day the Lord has made.
