And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it. Genesis 2:15 (AMPC)
When God created man He gave and placed him in a garden to watch over. He gave Him business to take care of.
So it is with the rest of each and every one of us on the planet.
We all have been created and put here and assigned a specific garden to tend, guard, and keep.
A garden unattended gets overgrown with weeds, harbors all kinds of destructive pests, so the plants that are supposed to grow there never flourish, never bear fruit but get choked, stunted, or even die.
Your life is your garden. Your mind is your garden. Your emotions, desires, passions are your garden. Your gifts, abilities, and talents are your garden. Your time and resources are your garden. All these are your garden to tend, guard and keep. They are all your business to mind and take care of.
One meaning of tend is to take charge of. You ought to take charge of your life, mind, emotions, desires, passions, time, gifts, abilities, talents, and resources.
Adam abandoned his responsibility as the one in charge and care taker of this garden called earth and an evil scheming serpent took over control of the garden.
If you don’t take charge of what’s been entrusted to you; something else that’s a waster and a destroyer will.
Adam was to take charge of earth by running it according to what God spoke to him.
We take charge of everything that’s placed in our keeping by running it in accordance with what God has spoken to us – His Word.
This means we ought to know and be acquainted with what God says about all these things He’s entrusted us with in order to be able to take charge of them.
