1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2[ “Honor your father and mother,”] which is the first commandment with promise: 3[ “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”] 4And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:1-4 (NKJV)
Worldly obedience is by force while godly obedience is by faith or trust.
The world without God enforces obedience by threatening that do this or else.
As God’s children we all learn obedience as our Father God helps and trains us to trust in Him. When you obey someone because you trust in their care for you and their wisdom it comes from the heart and it’s genuine.
Parents ought to teach their children godly obedience by firstly establishing a relationship and fellowship with them where your children know they are cared for and thus whatever they are told, instructed, or commanded to do is for their safety and well-being and it’s coming from a heart of wisdom.
Live an obedient life of trust in God’s care and wisdom everyday right in front of your children and they will pick it up quick before you even tell them by word of mouth.
Your children learn to: do what you do, say what you say, respond or react the way you do. They even pick up attitudes and moods from the parents!
Teach your child obedience from your way of living before their eyes.
