In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:7 (NKJV)
According to this Scripture Redemption is the forgiveness of sins and this is through the Blood of Jesus. The Greek word for forgiveness here actually means remission or sending away. In Christ Jesus our sins have been remitted or sent away. They are washed away, blotted out. That’s why under this New Covenant in the Blood of Christ God can boldly truthfully declare that “He doesn’t remember our sins” Hebrews 10:17. Not that He’s forgetful but they don’t exist anymore because they have been sent away, blotted out by the Blood of Christ.
You have no business remembering and recounting your sins or the sins of your ancestors because God doesn’t remember them for they have been sent away, blotted out by the Blood of Christ. No more guilt or condemnation. No more sense of separation from God.
Your confession of sins should be ” I thank you Father that in Christ I have Redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness which is the sending away of sins, according to the riches of Your Grace”
