Not that I have now attained [this ideal], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own. Philippians 3:12 (AMPC)
Christ has laid hold of a life and destiny for each and every one of us. He has also laid hold of each and every one of us for this life and destiny. In other words Christ has a purpose for each one of us and He has saved, gifted, and empowered us for this purpose.
It’s the life and destiny of expressing all His goodness and power and wisdom in this world to benefit humanity and creation and bring God glory and honor.
Now it’s not going to be realized and experienced automatically without our response and participation.
So we have to press on into this. What Christ has already laid hold of for us we have to lay hold of ourselves. We have to own what’s our own. This means being fully persuaded of what Christ is persuaded of concerning us and walking in it. Press on into what God knows to be true about you.
