Patient in Trials

April 13, 2023 John Nsamba Comments off Devotions

Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor’s] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12 (AMPC)

Patience is a fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23.
Everything effortlessly produces fruit after it’s own kind. Get to know, and get fully persuaded of your own kind in Christ.
He’s the Vine you’re the branch. See- John 15:5. The Life in Him who’s the Vine is brought out and revealed in you as fruit. So when you know and are fully persuaded that His love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control is also equally present in you, that’s what you’ll effortlessly bring forth.
As long as a tree is getting all the necessary light, water and nutrients it will always produce fruit in it’s season.
Likewise as long as we are getting the Word which is all the light, water, and nutrients we need, we will always bring forth the fruit of patience in our season.
Staying in the Word of God brings out patience in us since it’s the Word of His Patience.
Revelation 3:10 (AKJV) Because you have kept the word of my patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation, which shall come on all the world, to try them that dwell on the earth.
Patience is developed by and is a result of exercising self-control which is also developed by exercising knowledge.
2 Peter 1:6 (AMPC) And in [exercising] knowledge [develop] self-control, and in [exercising] self-control [develop] steadfastness (patience, endurance), and in [exercising] steadfastness [develop] godliness (piety).
When we exercise or act on the knowledge of God we have received we develop self-control. When we exercise or act on self-control we develop patience.
Get to know God from His Word. For example we know from His Word that God is patient with us. This will bring out self-control in us. We will hold back from acting emotionally, rashly and unreasonably since God doesn’t act that way towards us.
We will deal with people and situations the way God does. We will treat others exactly the same way God treats us.
Lastly when we know that trials or troubles are opportunities and the right environment for the testing and therefore proving of our faith then we will effortlessly wait on patience to take it’s time coming out.
James 1:2-3 (NKJV) My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
