For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 2:13 (NKJV)
Men deal with matters of wrong doing by the wrong doer being sentenced, punished, and fully paying for the wrong committed. This is man’s judgment.
God deals with wrong doing by forgiving the wrongdoer, and getting rid of the wrong done with its effects, healing and restoring both wrong doer and the one who’s wronged, reconciling them with Himself and each other. This is Mercy.
All of us mankind were fallen, lost, and dead in sin but God did not sentence us to the punishment we deserved. Instead;
He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5 (NLT)
Mercy saves, heals, restores, and compensates. Mercy restores hearts, lives, and relationships to better than they were before. That’s how and why it triumphs over judgment.
The triumph of God’s Righteousness and Holiness is not when sinners are sentenced and are punished for their sins but it happened when the sinless Lamb, the Son of God who knew no sin was for the sake of all humanity made sin that we all through Him might be made the Righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21
Just as we have been shown Mercy let’s give the same to one another.
