We received the same promises as those people in the wilderness, but the promises didn’t do them a bit of good because they didn’t receive the promises with faith. Hebrews 4:2 (MSG)
Did you know you can always receive effortlessly from God by listening? That’s how much God has simplified the process of supplying all His goodies to us – simply listening!
Now we are not talking about indifferent listening but listening with Faith. Indifferent listening is where you listen alright but your heart is not paying attention and you let drift away everything you heard.
Listening with Faith is paying attention to what is said, taking it to heart, pondering over and over it, keeping it in the middle of your heart. It is positively responding to what you hear to the point of acting on it.
Listening with Faith involves listening not just once but again and again until what you hear takes root in you. It also many times involve countering and casting out other contradictory thoughts or imaginations that try to stop you from following through with what you have heard. For instance God says I am with you but you feel all alone, lonely, forsaken, and helpless. You have to aggressively resist even rebuke those evil thoughts by hearing the Word from God over and over again which many at times means you speak it to yourself again and again.l
