Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit. John 15:2 (AKJV)
The Greek word translated “takes away” in this verse fore mostly means to “raise up, elevate, or lift up”.
You and I are the branches in Jesus – John 15:5. When we are not bearing fruit – not expressing outwardly Christ’s Life in us, the Father doesn’t cut us off or throw us away. He raises us up.
When we are doubtful, worried, discouraged, fearful, insecure, or confused we are not bearing fruit. The Father doesn’t write us off, doesn’t discard us. He lifts us up. He builds faith in us, encourages us, calms us, builds us up, affirms us, and so we bear the fruit of faith, peace, trust, and confidence.
