He said this to signify in what manner He would die.
On the Cross Jesus was lifted up to bear and take away the sin, suffering, and death of all humanity and the world.
This way God demonstrated His unconditional and unfailing love for us.
This is God’s wisdom and power of drawing fallen and lost man as well as the whole world back into relationship and fellowship with Himself.
Just like Moses lifted the serpent in the wilderness so that whoever looked was healed -John3:14,15, when we look to or believe in Jesus who was lifted or died for our sins on the Cross we are healed of all oppression of sin which includes guilt, shame, condemnation, fear, not measuring up, worry, limitation, insecurity, lack, and all pain.
Lift up Jesus as you acknowledge and testify of Him who is lifted up above all things.
Act the life of forgiveness, mercy, confidence, and peace that Jesus was lifted up for you to have. Share this life in your conversations.
