Because of the hope [of experiencing what is] laid up (reserved and waiting) for you in heaven. Of this [hope] you heard in the past in the message of the truth of the Gospel. Colossians 1:5 (AMPC)
While earth is our present inheritance for a time, we also have a future everlasting inheritance in Heaven.
Jesus promised us who forsake worldly interests and pursuits to follow Him of the hundred percent reward of earthly possessions of family, lands and wealth but then also of a hundred percent reward of a future heavenly eternal inheritance.
This is the hope which we do not see now but is surely laid up for us in heaven.
While we can experience and enjoy the fullness of union and communion with God right now in this physical body in this physical world now, there’s a far surpassing transcendent glorious and excellent life awaiting us when Jesus comes back. Imagine a life and world in which there’s nothing hateful, harmful or hurtful; a perfect life and world where there’s no want, hunger, sickness, death, pain, or sorrow; a world full of perfect peace, security, joy, and fulfillment. This is what every child of God ought to look forward to. This is the hope of our Salvation.
