I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26 (NIV)
Life is a heart art or life is an art of the heart. Whichever way you put it the point is life is all about the state of affairs in your heart or the affairs of state in your heart. The condition of your heart determines the quality of your life.
Therefore, God is a heart dealer. God deals in and deals with hearts. He’s so interested in hearts that He runs a heart transplant clinic! He’s in the business of removing a certain kind of heart and replacing it with another kind.
He has expressed His desire for us in His Word to give us a new heart and put in us a new spirit.
The new heart He calls a heart of flesh which He puts in us after He has removed the heart of stone.
We all well know the difference between stone and flesh. Stone is lifeless, hard, and cold. A heart of stone is one that is lifeless, hard, and cold. It’s a hardened heart. This kind of heart produces the same kind of life – dead, hard and cold. A hardened heart is an evil heart of unbelief that departs from and rejects the living God- Hebrews 3:8, 12.
Mark 8:17(AMPC) And being aware [of it], Jesus said to them, Why are you reasoning and saying it is because you have no bread? Do you not yet discern or understand? Are your hearts in [a settled state of] hardness?
Flesh is full of life, soft, fresh and warm. A heart of flesh is a living, pliable heart. It’s a believing heart that yields to the living God. Out of this kind of heart flows fullness and freshness of life.
When we believe on Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God, the heart of stone is removed and we receive the new heart of flesh.
This is what is referred to in 2 Corinthians 5:17(AMPC) Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
The old that has passed away is the old stone heart. The heart without the life of God. The new that has come is the new flesh heart. The heart full of the Spirit and life of God.
Do you have a heart of Flesh? – Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
