They cut deep wounds in my back and made it like a plowed field. Psalm 129:3 (GNT)
All Scripture ultimately points to the Christ, His sufferings, and the glory that followed. Luke 24:26-27,44-47.In Scripture the Spirit of God even uses experiences that people went through to announce before time what would happen to Christ. In this Psalm the writer talks about the wounds he suffered.Christ was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities. Isaiah 53:5It was those wounds that reached our innermost parts and cleansed away all our evil.Proverbs 20:30 (ASV)Stripes that wound cleanse away evil; And strokes [reach] the innermost parts. The last part of Isaiah 53:5 says by His stripes we are healed. The stripes that wounded Jesus brought us healing. Not only was Jesus pierced and wounded for our sins but also for our sickness. His Blood cleansed and freed us from sin and His beatings healed and freed us from sickness.Thank God for the healing of the soul and conscience from the affliction of sin and thank God for the healing of the body from sickness and disease. We were healed by His wounds.
