And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called [the Place] of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center. John 19:17-18(NKJV)
Golgotha was the name of the place outside Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified, so called, obviously because in form it resembled a skull. One translation calls Golgotha “dead man’s head” John 19:17 (Bible in Basic English)The skull or dead man’s head pictures the mindset of fallen humanity. It’s an evil mind. Romans 1:28 (BBE). It’s a corrupted mind.
Romans 1:28(GNT).
It’s a condemned mind. Romans 1:28 (AMPC).It’s the mind of selfishness, self-centeredness, and self-effort that leads to death, an enemy to God. Romans 8:6-7.It’s the mind of fear, worry, rejection, unworthiness, shame, hatred, lack and failure. But thank God that on Golgotha hill we who once were alienated from God and were enemies in our minds because of our evil behavior God reconciled us by Christ’s physical body through death to present us holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation. Colossians 1:21-22 (NIV)We now have the mind of Christ. 2 Corinthians 2:16.
