He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations Psalm 105:8 (NIV)
The reason God makes covenant with us is to assure us of His unchanging character and purpose. God made a covenant with Abraham, swore it to Isaac as an oath, and confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, and to Israel as an everlasting covenant – Psalm 105:9-10 Here we see God remaining true to doing good not only to Abraham but to all his descendants after him.The fullness of all the benefits God intended, promised, and swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is wholly realized in Christ – For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!”.. 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NLT)In Christ we are included in God’s everlasting covenant – And if you [are] Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29 (NKJV)God is forever committed to being our God, our source, shield, and sustainer.
