A good tree produces only good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. You can tell what a tree is like by the fruit it produces. Matthew 12:33 (CEV)
You are not defined by what you do. At least not with God; men will define you by your “do” but God defines you by your “be” – who you inwardly are.
But there are some who have used this very Scripture to define someone who has sincerely believed on Jesus that because he’s not yet showing outwardly the Christian character therefore he’s not a Christian since a tree is known by it’s fruit.
But no tree puts on fruit right away just after it has been planted or come up. Even when a tree has matured there’s time from the moment it buds to the mature ripe fruit. Also the mature already fruit bearing tree doesn’t have fruit on it all the time, there are seasons for fruit. So it’s the same with believers. There’s a time of growing and maturing. During this time fruit may not have appeared yet. But after then the time of bearing fruit comes.
The fruit proof requires patience.
