Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is My stronghold and the defense of My head; Judah is My scepter and lawgiver. Psalm 108:8 (AMPC)
The ways and workings of God are hidden and revealed even in the names and characters of people, events, and places in the Bible. The middle line of our head Scripture goes …Ephraim also is my stronghold and the defense of my head… Joseph the son of Jacob named his second son Ephraim which means double fruitfulness. He did that in reference to what God had done for him – for the Lord has made me fruitful – Genesis 41:52. Joseph named his first-born Manasseh which means making to forget. Now this was in reference to what Joseph had struggled and suffered – for God has made me forget all my toil and hardship…Genesis 41:51 Ephraim who was the second born received the blessing of the firstborn and his tribe was greater than that of Manasseh the first born – Genesis 48:8-20.Here in our theme Scripture God Himself calls Ephraim my stronghold and the strength of my head.Ephraim represents what God has done while Manasseh represents the struggles of man. Emphasize and let what God has done for you in Christ be your strength and defense. This is where fruitfulness comes from. Do not focus, make big, or rely on your efforts and struggles.
