Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Proverbs 4:25 (NLT)
What’s ahead of us isn’t something in the distant future but something right before us.
Fixing our eyes on what’s ahead is focusing on what God has prepared, done, accomplished and made ready for and given us.
1 Corinthians 2:12 (NKJV) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
What’s ahead of us is the life of victory and dominion that Jesus made available to us in His death and Resurrection. What’s behind us is the fall of Adam and all its consequences of condemnation, bondage and oppression.
We fix our eyes ahead by looking to Jesus and His finished work on the Cross.
Hebrews 12:2a (GNT) Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. We see Jesus as our life, our worthiness, our qualification, our wisdom, our advantage in life, our security. We see ourselves in Him as able, successful. This is the best way to look ahead.
