Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever. 1 Timothy 4:8 (MSG)
Physical exercise is profitable in so many ways and we should keep ourselves physically, mentally fit, healthy, and strong.
But there’s the greater and more beneficial exercise that is in godliness.Just as we exercise discipline and control over our minds and bodies regarding natural things, we ought to even much more exercise discipline and control of our lives in the area of spiritual matters.
For instance we don’t just eat anything but are strict and deny our bodies certain things. We subject our bodies to rigorous workouts.
Even much more we shouldn’t just eat anything spiritually so to speak. We should feed much more on the Word instead of the world, focus more on the building Good news than media breaking news, Christ instead of culture, godly edification instead of ungodly entertainment, our position in Christ more than politics, the Gospel instead of gossip, Scripture more than science, the knowledge of God more than the knowledge of gold (money and material possessions).
