Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied. Acts 9:31(NKJV)
In this Scripture fearing the Lord is linked with His Comfort and it produces multiplication.
Therefore fearing the Lord is something very good.
It is not being in panic, anxious or nervous.
Scripture interprets Scripture, so let us look at a couple of verses that help us understand what to fear the Lord is.
Joshua 24:14 (NKJV) “Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD!
To fear the Lord is to serve Him in sincerity and truth. It is putting away every other thing from the place of God in our hearts and lives. It is to serve the Lord not just with our mouths but from and with our hearts, our entire being, with all our possessions.
2 Kings 17:36 (NKJV) but the LORD, who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm, Him you shall fear, Him you shall worship, and to Him you shall offer sacrifice.
To fear the Lord is to worship Him and offer sacrifice to Him.
It is to offer our minds and bodies in honor and ministry to Him. Romans 12:1, 2 (AMPC)
Psalms 22:23(NKJV) You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify Him, And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!
To fear the Lord is to praise and glorify Him! So we shouldn’t be afraid of the Lord rather we ought to fear Him as we: Serve Him in sincerity and truth. Praise and worship him from the heart. Offer our minds and bodies in honor and ministry to him
