While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”
Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” Luke 8:49, 50 (NIV)
Both faith and fear are convictions of the unseen. Faith is conviction or being sure of the good, positive things not yet revealed to the senses. Hebrews 11:1.
Fear is conviction or being sure of the negative bad things that have not yet happened. Job 3:25 For the thing which I greatly fear comes upon me, and that of which I am afraid befalls me. (Amplified Bible).
Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Romans 10:17. God is good. 1Chronicles 16:34. He is the source of every good and perfect thing. James1:17. Therefore the words or thoughts that God speaks communicate that which is good. The Word of God, the Gospel, is news of good things. It’s good news. As we hear the Word of God we are receiving and are being built up on faith or the conviction of the good positive things that come from God. The words and thoughts of the evil one communicate that which is evil. These words and thoughts carry fear, worry, defeat, confusion, lack, failure and death. When we speak, hear, think, imagine, focus on these negative, death filled words and thoughts we are choosing and yielding to fear.
On the other hand, when we pay attention to, declare, think, set our hearts on the Faith filled Words of God, we are choosing faith. Today choose faith over fear.
