Come home, hope-filled prisoners! This very day I’m declaring a double bonus–everything you lost returned twice-over!
Zechariah 9:12 (MSG)
A most often asked question is “why do bad things happen to good or innocent people”? Firstly, none is good except God. When a young man addressed Jesus as good teacher, He replied no one is good except God. For all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory or goodness. How about the innocent baby struck with sickness right from the mother’s womb? Surely, he has not done anything wrong.
Bad things, problems, troubles are here in the world and come at every one regardless of what they’ve done or not done, because of the one sin of one-man Adam! Romans 5:12You know the story of how Adam landed us in the dilemma we’re in–first sin, then death, and no one exempt from either sin or death. Message Bible.
That’s unfair you may protest. But before you go hunt for Adam and have him charged and sentenced for this horrible crime, see what God has done about it all.
Romans 5:18-19 Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person (Adam) did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person (Jesus) did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble, He (Jesus) got us into life! One man (Adam) said no to God and put many people in the wrong; one man (Jesus) said yes to God and put many in the right.
God through the crucifixion death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ, has not only provided a way out of trouble but also made provision of double recompense for all the trouble you went through.
One of the foremost examples of unfair human suffering recorded in scripture is Job. He was a righteous man but he lost all his children, possessions and health. But the God who is always good and just restored to him double for all the trouble he went through. God restored Job’s fortune–and then doubled it! He blessed Job’s later life even more than his earlier life. Job ended up with fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand teams of oxen, and one thousand donkeys. He also had seven sons and three daughters. Job 42:10,12,13
For all the sufferings, troubles, losses you’ve gone through whether in your health, relationships, finances, do not condemn yourself or anyone else or blame God. Trust in the goodness of the Lord and expect Him to restore to you double for your trouble.
Instead of shame and dishonor, you will enjoy a double share of honor. You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. Isaiah 61:7
