Now therefore, our God, the great, mighty, and terrible God, Who keeps covenant and mercy and loving-kindness…… Nehemiah 9:32 (AMPC)
The reason God made and keeps covenant is to convince and give us assurance of His integrity and trustworthiness most especially in the face of contradicting opinion, circumstances, and accusations from the enemy.
Adam’s fall and consequently all of humanity’s fall and troubles came about as a result of not being convinced of what God had said. If Adam had been fully convinced of what God had told Him he wouldn’t have gone against it to believe and receive the lie and death of the enemy.
When God killed an animal and made skin coats to clothe Adam and Eve and thus cover their nakedness He was convincing them that He believed in them, in who they were in His eyes no matter what they had done. The shedding of the blood and death of that innocent animal foretold a holy God who Himself would be clothed in human flesh, shed His Blood, and die our death to forever convince us that we’ve always belonged to Him and in Him and He to us and in us. It was also to once and forever shut every mouth that is contrary to that truth.
The Everlasting God made an Everlasting Covenant when He became human like us, bore all our sins in His Body, died on the Cross and rose from the dead proving that He made us right with Him.
The covenant making and keeping God is the one only true and faithful God you can depend on. You can therefore rest assured that no matter what, no matter where, no matter when, He’s there not only with you but for you, and for your good. Whatever God said, whatever He says, He’s well able and faithful to bring to pass and He’s given us the assurance of that by raising Jesus from the dead. See-Acts 13:32- 33.
The covenant keeping God shall surely keep and sustain you at all times through all things. He watches over you, walks with you, and works with you.
Now the best part of it is this:
2 Timothy 2:13 (AMPC) If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him], He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself. The covenant keeping God doesn’t change even when you change. But why would you change to disagree with the unchanging One. Always change from everything else to agree with the unchanging One.
