Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established. Proverbs 16:3 (NKJV)
To commit our works to the Lord is to put them into His charge.
It is to let the Lord take charge of our affairs. That’s how our thoughts or plans are established or come to pass.
Most people first come up with their own man made plans and then bring them to the Lord to approve, endorse and bless them.
But the best way is to find out from the Lord the thoughts or plans He already has for us because these are already approved, endorsed and blessed by default.
We commit to the Lord from the heart. We let the Lord take charge from the heart.
We don’t merely say with our mouth and brain “ok Lord you’re the boss, have your way”
Many times people say, sing, and cry “Lord I surrender, take control Lord, reign Jesus reign, when He calls me I’ll answer ” when in their hearts it is “me, myself and I”. We clearly see this in the arena of life where people behave and confront and treat everything and everyone else with the attitude of “my rights, my way, my interests”
To really commit to the Lord is to seek and find the Lord’s will and counsel in every matter and follow it.
We seek and find the Lord’s Will and Counsel from His Word.
Psalms 119:130 – The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.
The second way of getting the Will and Counsel of the Lord is to prayerfully pay attention to what’s in our hearts. Proverbs 20:5 – Counsel in the heart of man is like water in a deep well, but a man of understanding draws it out.
These two ways work hand in hand because it’s the Word of God that shines the light of understanding in our hearts enabling us to know and see what God has planned for us.
