Fidelity or faithfulness is an attribute of God that speaks of one who never changes.
This faithful God created us for and called us into a relationship and fellowship with Him. One of the pillars that relationships are built and thrive on is trust which flows from fidelity or faithfulness. Because God is faithful, constant, and consistent, He can be trusted, He can be depended upon.
1 Thessalonians 5:24 – He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
The number one benefit of fidelity is proven trust. You can be relied upon. Our text scripture gives fidelity as a major requirement for stewardship. A steward is one entrusted with a responsibility.
Another benefit of fidelity is proven responsibleness. When you’re faithful you’re responsible. This implies maturity. Actually, one way to notice maturity in a person is increased responsibleness. No matter their age or experience, irresponsible people are immature people.
Fidelity or faithfulness brings promotion and increase. One who’s faithful over a few things is made ruler over many things. Faithfulness is rewarded with the joy of satisfaction. When you’re faithful in any pursuit, attaining it is attended with joyful satisfaction. Thus, the faithful steward in – Matthew 25: 21-23 is ushered into the joy of his lord.
Faithfulness or fidelity is part of our New Creation nature. When we behold and fellowship with a faithful God the result is we will also live and walk as his faithful ones.
