But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before [them] all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews? Galatians 2:14 (NKJV)
There are those who adjust and bend the Gospel to fit human beliefs, culture, religion, science, reasoning and experiences in order to escape the disapproval of men. Peter for fear of falling out with certain men who were zealous for the law withdrew from eating with gentile believers whom he had been eating with before the zealots came. Galatians 2:11-14. He wasn’t being straight forward about the Gospel of Jesus Christ in which we have been freed from all the do not touch, do not handle, and do not taste restrictions.
Being straight forward about the Gospel is to believe in, yield to, and act in the total freedom Christ brought us into and no more allow ourselves to be put under the burden and bondage of the law.
