But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. James 1:6-8 (NIV)
Believing cannot coexist with doubting. One is light the other is darkness. One is certainty, the other is uncertainty. When we choose to take any issue to God in prayer, after we are done we should rest assured that He has worked or is working on it. When we again take it back upon ourselves and let our minds be preoccupied with that same problem we gave to God, we are being double minded. That’s what doubt is.
But when we stubbornly insist that ” I talked to God about this issue and according to His Word He heard and worked on it or He’s working on it, I’m not going to give in to fear or worry just because in the natural things don’t look like there’s any change or even if it looks like it’s getting worse, my God is faithful and able to do what He said in His Word” “Glory to God hallelujah” “Thank you Lord” This is what it means to be single minded.
