And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth. Genesis 1:28 (AMPC)
Just as it’s in God’s nature to bring forth after Himself it’s in the nature of all His creation to bring forth after themselves.
Genesis 1:11-12 (AMPC) And God said, Let the earth put forth [tender] vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees yielding fruit whose seed is in itself, each according to its kind, upon the earth. And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed according to their own kinds and trees bearing fruit in which was their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good (suitable, admirable) and He approved it.
To be fruitful is to bring forth or produce after yourself. It’s not just producing children but also every good and beneficial thing that’s in us from God.
Our theme Scripture says “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man” Genesis 1:28.
Here fruitfulness means using all the vast resources God has given us to serve Him and one another.
Be fruitful – Get to know the resources God has placed in and before you and use them not just for your own good but in the service of God and others.
The resources from God include the life, time, relationships, abilities, gifts, talents, strengths, opportunities, experiences, education, training, skills, advantages, wealth and material possessions we have.
Use everything that you are, that you have, and that’s at your disposal to serve God and those near you.
