Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice wicked works With men who work iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies. Psalm 141:3-4 (NKJV)
The mouth is an entrance not just for getting in food and water into the body but also a door for letting in and out of you spiritual forces and resources. The heart is the functional center of spiritual forces and resources and it works hand in hand with the mouth. What fills the heart the mouth let’s out or speaks and it becomes a reality in your life. On the other hand, what the mouth continually says gets established in the heart and controls and drives your life. So, the door of your lips or mouth must be watched and guarded vigilantly. In other words, watch what you say. Do not speak harmful or hurtful or hateful words but healing, helpful and hopeful words. Ephesians 4:29. This is how you guard your mouth. When the mouth is guarded with faith filled, life giving, encouraging and assuring confession then the heart is secured.
