22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV)
The putting on of our new self is in the mind where we have to be renewed in our thinking.
We are to throw out the old thoughts of the old dead man we used to be and in their place take on the new thoughts of the new man who we are right now.
The old man was a sinner, failure and lost, he thought and dwelt on sin all the time. But now he’s dead and gone. We are now a new righteous and holy man but our mind isn’t yet aligned to this. So we have to intentionally, persistently remind our mind that we are new, righteous and holy. We now have on purpose to fill our mind with the new righteous and holy thoughts of the New Man.
This we do by looking into the Word of Christ where we find and know who we are in Christ, what we have and can do in Him.
Put on the new self as you fill your mind with thoughts of the new self you’re in Christ. You’re righteous and holy.
