And that I may [actually] be found and known as in Him, not having any [self-achieved] righteousness that can be called my own, based on my obedience to the Law’s demands (ritualistic uprightness and supposed right standing with God thus acquired), but possessing that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ (the Anointed One), the [truly] right standing with God, which comes from God by [saving] faith. Philippians 3:9 (AMPC)
The only Righteousness that satisfies God, the kind that’s genuine and therefore the One He requires is His very own.
Man cannot achieve this Righteousness by striving to do right and be good. His best most sincere and determined efforts to live righteous always produce a dead works righteousness.
God in His Love Grace and Mercy has already in Christ on the Cross freely given all of us the gift of His own genuine Righteousness. We receive this free gift of the Righteousness of God by believing in Jesus Christ as the One who took away all our unrighteousness (not measuring up, shortcomings, failures and wrongs).
