If indeed you [really] fulfill the royal Law in accordance with the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as [you love] yourself, you do well. James 2:8 (AMPC)
Love is the royal law. It’s the ultimate law.
To walk in love, firstly knowing that we are loved and then loving others even as we are loved is to walk and live in power and perfection.
If we fulfill or walk and live in this supreme and perfect law of liberty then we don’t need any other law or deterrent to experience and enjoy a safe, strong, stable, and satisfied life, family, community, and world.
To love your neighbor as you love yourself is to protect, pursue and promote their wellbeing, growth, and advancement just the same way you do for yourself.
Ephesians 5:29 (AMPC) For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it, as Christ does the church.
At one time we couldn’t love our neighbor as our self for we didn’t even love our self in the first place. We had a distorted view of ourselves because of sin.
But now we can love ourselves in a healthy and balanced way because we have known the love God has for us.
We can love our neighbor when we know that someone already came into our neighborhood and He’s the perfect neighbor who perfectly loved us even as He does Himself. God became flesh, He shared in our humanity – that’s how He moved into our neighborhood. He showed us how to love our neighbor – that is while they are yet not neighborly to us –
Romans 5:10 (MSG) If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now that we’re at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life!
He laid down His Life for us on the Cross.
