6Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. 7And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (AMPC)
True, sure peace doesn’t mean absence of troubles, neither does it mean everything being or working just exactly as we want it to be.
Imperturbable peace is the inward knowing and assurance that regardless of what has happened or is happening we have someone who in the midst of it all is watching over us carefully and caring for us watchfully.
According to our theme Scripture peace is the result of handing over and leaving your concerns to God in prayer and thanksgiving. When we know that God knows everything about us, cares for us, has worked out something about it we will calm down and be at ease even when on the outward everything is in turmoil.
As long as we are “in Christ” minded, the perfect peace of God will always garrison our hearts and minds in the midst of and against every onslaught of disturbance or distress.
To be “in Christ” minded is to know that we are joined with Christ, we are one with Him, He’s the Vine we are the branches. Everything true in Him is true in us. Just as He has overcome we have also already overcome.
We are garrisoned in Christ’s peace when we are fully persuaded that though there’s tribulation and trials and distress and frustration In the world we can be of good cheer, we can take courage, we can be confident, certain, undaunted because Christ has overcome the world. He has deprived it of power to harm us and has conquered it for us. John 16:33 (AMPC)
