31 Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? 32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. 33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. Matthew 6:31-33(AMPC)
God is not indifferent or unconcerned about our welfare. He’s a very interested, caring and involved Father who longs and desires that all our needs are met. Ever since the fall of man in the garden it’s in the human mindset to be totally immersed in the tormenting cares and worries of how am I going to live, where is the food, clothing, shelter going to come from, and for almost every one this is normal and even noble!
But that’s not God’s intended original design for us.
Earth and its fullness was created for man not the other way round. This means everything on earth is meant to respond to and serve man. It’s not man who should be running after things in order to survive. Man was created for God, to fellowship with Him, enjoy Him reign or rule with Him. We are wired to and thus should focus on our relationship and communion with our Maker and Father God. It’s when we do that and stay there that everything else rightly falls properly into place.
When we yield to and get preoccupied with knowing and relating with God, the earth and it’s fullness – it’s resources, advantages, benefits, yield to us in service. As we submit to God, to His rule, wisdom influence, plans, purposes, the good things of life submit to us. So, there can’t be lack or want in our lives.
God’s Kingdom is His sphere of influence, it’s His rule, authority, power and order. It’s His way of doing and running things. Seeking God’s Kingdom is setting out hearts and minds on knowing and walking with Him in all that we do. We get to know and walk with God from His Word. Give yourself to God’s Word that’s how you’ll get acquainted with Him, that’s how you’ll get acquainted with His kingdom and that’s how the good things of life will yield to you and serve you.
