Then the LORD said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day.
Exodus 16:4 (NIV)
In Exodus 16:15 when the Israelites saw the food that God rained down from heaven, they had no idea what it was so they said to each other “manhu” or Manna, meaning “what is this?”
Manna speaks of God’s provision. God is our Father who lovingly cares for us. He is a steady provider who faithfully supplies all our needs day by day. In the Lord’s prayer Jesus told us to pray “give us this day our daily bread” Luke 11:3.
God meets our needs on a daily basis. We therefore shouldn’t be worried about tomorrow’s needs or problems today. Anxiety about tomorrow means we haven’t yet got acquainted with this faithful Father who is always ever present each day and always taking care of all that we require for life. Get to know this loving Father, get to know his daily fresh provision.
We know Him from His Word. He provides through His Word. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
A Word from God a day keeps the day’s worries away. A word from God a day is that day’s provision from heaven for all that day’s needs. Therefore, get a Word of God each day, it doesn’t necessarily have to be many Scriptures. Listen to, read, study, meditate on, confess a Word from the Scriptures each day. A simple statement like ” do not fear I’m with you” is more than enough to see you victorious through the day.
Provision includes wisdom, peace, strength, assurance, protection and every other spiritual, emotional and physical or material need. It’s all in the Word of God that we receive each day. No two days share the same exact needs in the same way but each day has its own unique challenges. Therefore, we need fresh Manna, fresh provision, fresh wisdom, fresh strength for each day. That’s what’s referred to in Psalms 92:10 “You anoint me with fresh oil”. The anointing is power, ability, enablement.
There’s always a fresh enablement each day available to us to live victorious and fulfilled. We can access it as we get that Word of God for the day.
