Where [there is] no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors [there is] safety. Proverbs 11:14 (NKJV)
The counselors God has given us are not only people but ways we can draw counsel to use in time of need. The first counselor is the Word of God. Psalms 119:24 (NKJV) Your testimonies also [are] my delight [And] my counselors. The testimonies of God are His Word. We can draw counsel from God’s Word. The second counselor is the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 11:2 calls the Holy Spirit the Spirit of counsel. The Holy Spirit knows and reveals the divine counsels 1Corinthians 2:10(AMPC) As children of God we are to be led by the Holy Spirit. The third counselor is our heart. There’s counsel in our heart – Proverbs 20:5. We should always listen to our heart. The fourth counselor is people – godly people, wise people, those who are for our well-being. In Exodus 18 Moses’ father inlaw gave him counsel that saved Moses from being worn out judging the Israelites’ cases alone. We should have and keep godly, wise, friends to help us when we need counsel.
